One day last week I came home in the waning daylight to see this in front of the garage.
My brother and my son were working on the old Chevy truck. This made me smile. I've wished for years that Bob would have a chance to work with his uncle, who I consider to be one of the best mechanics on the face of the Earth. He's a good teacher, too, so even if you're doing the work taking off the wheel and he's just standing there telling you what to do, you're learning a lot.
They got the sprung door fixed. They had the truck running and it sounded pretty good. When they drove it around the field, they found a problem with the brake. So Jerry left me a list of things to buy and said he'll be back.
The most difficult thing on my list is a replacement for the key that Bob broke off in the ignition. I'm not sure where to start looking for that. Oh, and DMV is bound to be a nightmare.

Can you do your DMV stuff at AAA? When I had to register/transfer the Avalon I went to AAA and it took about 5 minutes.
DMV? AAA? What the? Speak English please!
The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is the worst bureaucratic mess in California. Most people hate to go there, even if you make an appointment you can never tell how long you'll wait, and quite often you get a really grumpy person waiting on you. Customer service is NOT their goal.
If you insure your car with AAA (American Automobile Association?) you can take your registration there and pay for it. The AAA people are very nice and handle matters promptly. That's because they're not snivel servants.
I tried using AAA for the truck several years ago, but it didn't work. There is some kind of bug with the truck that doesn't allow them to access its records. It's probably the same bug that has prevented DMV from sending me a renewal notice for 18 years. For 5 years in a row I went to DMV and asked them to fix the problem. They said sure, just pay all these late fees first. I did. They didn't. I also can't pay online for the truck because I have no computer access to its records. It's one of those times when I really, really hate having to deal with the government. But. I. Can. Do. This!
